Below will give you an outline of the process we use at PowderTech from booking in to collecting!
Here is a brief idea of what happens when you book in with Powdertech:
-
First have a look at our online shop, where you can purchase some of our wheel refurb services. If you are unsure, our team of experts will be able to help you ,just give us a call or pop down to PowderTech! We can talk you through the process and give you a bespoke quotation that matches exactly what you need. We can then organise the best way to get your new wheels started for you!
-
There are 2 ways you can drop your alloys in with us. You can either bring your vehicle down and leave it with us, it will be held securely at the premises. Or if you are able to, you can bring the wheels down loose! All our services take 2-3 days so the best thing to do is get them to us early on the day you are booked. That way we we can get the process started as soon as possible, we open from 7am.
-
Before we start, we need to remove the wheels from the vehicle if they are still on. And then remove the tyres so we just have the bare wheels.
The first step is getting the wheels into our acid baths then they go into our vapour blaster. This ensures all old paint/powder coating is removed.
Next, it goes to our prep bench where we get your wheel perfectly ready for powder coating.
Once ready, they get powder coated in our coating room. Then the wheels get put into our industrial oven to bake the powder onto them. This gives a much smoother finish and is much more durable than paint.
If you are just getting a colour/refurb your wheels will get a coat of lacquer and then built back up with your tyres.
If you are getting a diamond cut finish, once your wheels are cooled from the oven they will be put into our diamond cutting lathe. After they are cut, a coat of lacquer is applied. Then the wheels are built back up with your tyres and then assembled back onto your vehicle.
-
As soon as your wheels are done and back on your car, one of our team will give you a call to let you know. You can come and pick up as soon as you would like, we are open Monday to Friday 7am until 5pm.
