Wheel Refurbishment Services
The Service
1.1 Prices
All pricing given via email, telephone or face-to-face is quoted presuming the wheels do not need any remedial repair work. Welding, wheel straightening and heavy corrosion and damage is charged as additional services. Some damage is not visible until the wheel is stripped of its existing coating. We will contact you if there is any additional work required as soon as possible.
1.2 Timescales
Our expected turnaround time is given upon bringing your vehicle to us. We aim to complete the wheels on vehicles within 3 working days, however, will update to any delays or improvements on this time scale as soon as possible.
1.3 Wheel Fitting
If your wheels are coming in “on car” we will remove the wheels and refit, torquing to the manufacturer’s specification. We will demonstrate this to you and ask you to sign to acknowledge that the wheels are torqued as per the manufacturer’s guidelines.
1.4 Locking Wheel Nuts
Any vehicle coming into us needs the locking wheel nut key present. Please be aware that we will untighten the locking nut on each wheel before you leave, if we are unable to loosen them you will be able to forcefully remove/ However, this will incur additional charges. Often these have been tightened with heavy guns and are over tightened.
Customers are reminded that it is their responsibility to check the tightness of the locking wheel nuts immediately on collection, and then recheck after a 25-mile bedding in period, and regular intervals going forwards.
Limitations to the Service and Additional Charges
2.1 Wheel Refurbishment
Wheel refurbishment is exactly that. It is not brand new from factory wheels. We are committed to producing a very high-quality service, using quality products and with a high level of attention to detail, however on occasion, a used wheel may not be 100% perfect, and this should be noted. Replacing alloy wheels for a brand-new set is extremely costly, in comparison to a wheel refurbishment service, it is often noted that a refurbishment service for a full set of alloys compares to the cost of a single brand-new alloy wheel, so the refurbishment is a fraction of the cost of replacing the wheels for new.
We strive for the best quality finish. The wheels are fully inspected after the old coating has been removed, and if the wheel is found to be in poor condition (which in some cases may mean the wheels are unsuitable for refurbishment), the customer will be advised of any additional remedial work and charges that will be incurred for us to correct them. Excessively damaged and corroded wheels often take much longer to prep and are on occasion not fit for refurbishment. We will endeavour to advise of any additional charges when we see the wheels upon arrival as you bring them to us, however, please note that some damage is not visible until the wheel has been stripped.
Additional Charges are incurred for:
- Bad corrosion (mild curb damage is included in the standard wheel charge)
- Welding – deep chips, cracks
- Poor wheel casting
- Damage around the stud holes caused by previous improper stud removal.
- Previous repair work that is substandard
- Cracks or splits
- Wheel straightening
2.2 Wheel Valves and Bolts
Standard valves are replaced and are included in the price. Specialist pressure sensor valves are extremely delicate and can be damaged during the tyre removal process. We take no responsibility for damage caused to these types of sensors. We advise customers to have them removed beforehand to avoid damage. Costs incurred for replacements will be charged back to the customer at cost price from the supplier. Please refer to your vehicles handbook when the wheels are back on the vehicle and re-calibrate them as per the manufacturers instructions to the vehicles system.
If wheel bolts need to be replaced, the cost will be charged back to the customer. In the case of split rims, sometimes the existing bolts must be drilled out due to corrosion and replacements purchased. Again, this is charged to the customer, we will inform the customer before we carry out such work.
2.3 Welding and Straightening
Any welding and straightening work we undertake is at the owner’s own risk. Whilst we will not attempt any repairs that are deemed unsafe to begin with, the responsibility is held with the customer. Some cracks and bends are unrepairable in some instances. If the repair required is deemed unfit and could deem the wheel unsafe, we will not undertake the repair work. During wheel straightening, high heat and pressure is used to straighten any bends. This process can cause cracking in the wheel. We will not be held responsible for any damage caused during this process and ask the customer to note that remedial work such as this is undertaken at their own risk. The remedial work undertaken, successful or not, will be charged to the customer.
We take every care when undertaking these processes, however the extent of some damage is not visible to the naked eye and only comes to light when the wheel is put under pressure. In these instances, we would advise that the damage is a blessing, as another knock into a pothole for example could be the cause of an accident.
2.4 Damaged / Illegal Tyres
We will not refit tyres that are deemed to be unfit and illegal, which includes tread depth, cracks, and general condition/age. If a customer is advised that we will not fit them and demands that they are refitted, we will require the customer to sign a disclaimer to state that they are aware of the damage and our advice against refitting and take full responsibility for them once refitted. We can supply new tyres if required and will be charged to the customer, or you can supply your own for us to fit with a fitting charge also going to the customer. We can supply tyres of any size and brand, from budget to premium.

We are fully insured to have your vehicle on site; however, you must ensure that your personal or business insurance covers the vehicle whilst it is on our site.
3.2 Tools / Locking Wheel Nuts
Any wheel removal kits and locking wheel nut keys must be present in the vehicle when you bring it to us. The wheel nuts will be loosened whilst you are there to ensure they come off.
Customers are reminded that it is their responsibility to check the tightness of the locking wheel nuts immediately on collection, and then recheck after a 25-mile bedding in period, and regular intervals going forwards.
3.3 Valuables
Please remove anything of value, tools, etc. from your vehicles. Our site is locked, and covered by CCTV whilst your vehicle is on site, however it is sensible to ensure that anything of value is removed.
3.4 Confirmation of Work Carried Out
Upon arrival, we will complete a job sheet for your wheels. It is the customers’ responsibility to ensure that their requirements are clearly stated, bringing any errors, for example colour choice, to our attention.
3.5 Split Rims
Split rim refurbishment is undertaken at the discretion and responsibility of the customer. The process requires the wheels to be dismantled and reassembled. Please note that recommendations for suitability for refurbishment, dismantling and reassembling the wheels vary between manufacturers. It is your responsibility to check with the manufacturer before booking in, and advise us of any information given, prior to us undertaking the work.
3.6 Collection of Refurbished Wheels (loose and on vehicle)
It is the customer’s responsibility to check the condition of the wheels upon collection. Any issues need to be brought to the attention of a member of staff upon inspection at the time of collection.

Warranty
5.1 Powder Coated Wheels
Powder coated wheels come with a 12-month warranty. This covers against any defective paint materials, subject to the damage not being caused by a result of driver damage or the use of corrosive cleaners which dull lacquer over time. Excluded from this warranty are wheels that have been colour-matched that have not been done as part of a full set of 4.
5.2 Diamond Cut Wheels
Diamond cut finish involves a lacquered coating onto bare, machined alloy. It does not give a strong, lasting finish in comparison to a fully powder coated wheel. Coupled with the climate of our country, PowderTech can offer a 6 month warranty on Diamond Cut wheels.
5.3 Brake Calliper Painting
Brake Callipers Paints we offer a 6 month warranty on from date of collection.
5.4 Alloy Welding/Wheel Straightening
Because of the complex work that goes into welding and straightening, we are unable to offer any warranty on these services.
5.5 Ceramic Coating
No warranty is given for our Ceramic Coating. This is due to different environmental factors and the likes of wheel cleaners and wheel brushes that can physically burn and rub the ceramic coating off.
5.6 Steel Wheels
Steel wheels are notorious for corrosion so even after refurbishment, this can be an issue. PowderTech will offer a 3 month warranty on Steel Wheels from date of collection.
5.7 Split Rims
Due to the nature of Split Rims we are unable to offer any warranty on them.
5.8 Tyre Supply/Fitting
Our tyre supply and fitting also has no warranty.
5.9 TPMS
New TPMS stems being fit can have a 6 months warranty from day of fitting. If there is an issue this needs reported to PowderTech as soon as possible.
5.10 Vapour Blasting
Vapour blasting is so bespoke, every job we receive in is so different. We are unable to give a warranty for this service.
5.10 Claims Made Under Warranty
Any claim made under the warranty will be settled by free rework, or (at the discretion of PowderTech Ltd), a refund for the relevant part of the invoice (for example if one wheel was affected, the cost of one wheel would be refunded). The maximum refund would be limited to the original value, and we would not be held responsible for any consequential loss because of the repair. Customers must ensure that they keep a copy of their original invoice as this will be required when making a claim. This does not affect the Customers’ Statutory Rights.
5.11 Limitations to our Warranty
There is NO warranty for any wheels subjected to adverse driving conditions, such as but not limited to off-roading or racing, or have been damaged due to an accident. This includes curb damage or any induced damage from a third party e.g. tyres being removed.
Our Rights
6.1 Liability
We will not be held liable for any direct loss or damage suffered by you, however caused, because of negligence or breach of contract, or otherwise in excess of the price paid for the service received. There is nothing in these Terms and Conditions excluding or limiting us from liability or personal injury caused by negligence.
6.2 Law
These terms of supply of services will be subject to English Law, and English courts will have authority over any dispute arising from the agreement.
6.3 Amendments to Terms and Conditions
We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions as required.
6.4 Loss or Damage to Property
We will not be held responsible for any loss or damage to goods or articles left in vehicles, or any damage or mechanical failure of any vehicle (other than obvious damage that was not recorded or noted when the vehicle arrived) such as a flat battery, slipping clutch etc. caused to your vehicle whilst in our care, except damage caused by negligence. We will not accept liability for any technical or structural damage to wheels where such damage occurs due to pre-existing faults or wear and tear. Please remove the center caps prior to bringing the wheels in. As these are plastic and break easily, we will not be held responsible if replacements are required due to damage if we must remove.
6.5 Storage
If your vehicle is coming in to us, once the work is complete, the vehicle must be collected within 24 hours unless alternative plans have been expressly agreed between us and the customer.
Loose wheels that are completed will need collecting within 5 working days or be subjected to a holding fee (£5 per day beginning on the 6th working day).
6.6 Social Media
Unless you specifically request us not to, photos of your wheels and vehicle will be used in our social media posts. These will not include your number plate. If you do not wish for us to use these images, please ensure that this is written on the job sheet at the time of booking and our staff are aware.
